Two toyogo plastic boxes, an office fashioned from the spare space within her friend’s restaurant attic and a functioning laptop were the only tools at Rubina’s disposal when she started her foray into the wedding planning business. Nearly 7 years ago, her company Inside the Knot started when she was requested by a couple to put together an impactful yet inexpensive wedding. She realised that there was a growing demand for cost efficient weddings; however, the market was yet to cater to such demands. Thus, she took up the challenge to conceptualise, create and execute personalised wedding packages for her first few customers, who consisted mostly of friends and relatives.
Today, she sits in a 5000 square foot office space and Inside the Knot has grown into one of the top wedding services companies in Singapore and Organically over the years gave birth to 3 other brands, where she formed Tied Alliance Pte Ltd. Her mantra of practicality, efficiency and cost-consciousness has proven a masterstroke in her business dealings.
Rubina’s resourcefulness is not the result of a prestigious international MBA education or the business connections of affluent parents, a childhood where basic survival was her driving motivation.
